Long Beach Township Municipal Court holds Friday sessions in the township municipal building at 6805 Long Beach Boulevard, Brant Beach, NJ 08008, adding extra Friday dates in the summer months. It hears tickets, DWI arrests, disorderly persons complaints and ordinance violations from the township’s Long Beach Island neighborhoods, from Loveladies and North Beach down through Brant Beach, Spray Beach and Holgate. Long Beach Township’s Court Calendar

Long Beach Township sets the year’s sessions in advance. All of them are on Fridays, each with an 8:30 a.m. and an 11:00 a.m. start:

• One Friday a month for most of the year, usually the first Friday; in some months the session falls on the second Friday.
• A third-Friday session added in July, August and September, the extra summer sessions.

The format depends on the month. From January through June and in November and December, the 8:30 a.m. session is virtual and the 11:00 a.m. session is in person. From July through October the order reverses: in person at 8:30, virtual at 11:00. Your notice controls which session is yours, so check it against the season before you log on or drive to Brant Beach.

What Long Beach Township’s Court Numbers Mean

For a township of about 3,150 year-round residents, Long Beach Township runs a busy court. NJ Judiciary statistics for the twelve months ending June 30, 2026 list 4,705 filings, a 1.2% increase over 4,649 the year before. Moving violations made up 2,924, about 62%, and parking tickets added another 1,306. Criminal filings totaled 414, including 106 indictable complaints, and DWI filings fell to 61 from 74, a drop of about 18%.

By closing out 4,774 cases, more than were filed, the court reached a 101% clearance rate; a figure above 100% shows it reduced its older inventory while handling incoming cases. At the end of June 2026 there were 559 cases in backlog and 1,068 pending. The statistics reflect the volume this court handles and say nothing on their own about the result in a given case.

Appearing Virtually in Long Beach Township

Long Beach Township issues new Zoom details for each session, and the court sets clear rules for joining:

• Watch the opening statement first. Joining a virtual session certifies you have watched the Official Municipal Court Opening Statement.
• Choose your device. You can join from a PC or Mac, through the Zoom app, or by calling in. Phone participants press *9 to raise a hand.
• Use your real name, first and last.
• Log in 30 minutes early. You will speak with the prosecutor first and then go before the judge.
• Do not call the office during the session. Once the session has begun, the court office does not take calls about it.
• No recording. Recording court proceedings is prohibited under Administrative Office of the Courts rules. A copy of the record may be ordered with the request form on njcourts.gov.

There are no interstate, U.S. or state highways in the township, so Long Beach Boulevard (County Route 607) is the road that ties its neighborhoods together. Long Beach Island’s summer population can reach 130,000, and the boulevard also carries the free LBI Shuttle and seasonal bus service.

Paying or Contesting a Long Beach Township Ticket

When the judge imposes fines, the court sets up a Time Payment Order and emails you the amount assessed, and payments are made online at NJMCdirect. For any other payment arrangement, call the court at 609-361-6661.

Before you pay a Long Beach Township ticket you have not contested, remember that payment is a guilty plea. Visitors from out of state should not assume a New Jersey conviction stays in New Jersey; ask how it could affect the driving record and insurance you have at home. If the ticket involves points, a possible suspension or a criminal charge, get advice from a lawyer first. If hiring a lawyer is out of reach, ask the court about qualifying for the municipal public defender.

Preparing for Your Long Beach Township Court Date

• Look at the month first. Whether your session is virtual or in person at 8:30 a.m. depends on the time of year, so read the notice rather than assuming.

• Watch the opening statement before you log in. Joining the session counts as confirming you have seen it.
• Plan for summer traffic. If you are appearing in person at Brant Beach between July and October, allow extra time to get onto and along the island.
• Have documents ready. Keep your ticket, driver’s license, registration and insurance card nearby, along with any rental agreement or receipts that relate to the charge.

When a Long Beach Township Charge Leaves Municipal Court

Serious charges do not stay in Brant Beach. An indictable complaint written in Long Beach Township is forwarded to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office; prosecutors there can seek an indictment and try the case in Ocean County Superior Court in Toms River. If instead the county prosecutor concludes the conduct is better charged as a disorderly persons offense, the matter is downgraded and returned to Long Beach Township Municipal Court. Eligible defendants may be able to avoid a conviction through a New Jersey diversionary program (Pretrial Intervention and conditional dismissal are the most common).
