Dwi Bumper Cars in Hoboken, Nj

DWI

With the warm weather from Spring and Summer now upon us, the streets of Hoboken have been getting a little crazier than normal with the drunk drivers. Some people say the heat brings out the crazies and that seems to be true with the latest series of real-life DWI bumper cars now becoming a regular occurrence in the city. NJ.com has featured several articles lately documenting these escapades – with some involving multiple car accidents as the drunk driving suspects continue to drive down the narrow car packed streets of Hoboken. In one recent article, a woman was said to have driven her 90k Maserati in multiple parked cars down 6th and Clinton Streets and was only found after police in the area heard a large crash and found her smashed-up sports car unable to drive any further after losing its left front tire. The suspect arrested and subsequently was charged by Hoboken Police with a DWI, DWI in a School Zone, Leaving the Scene of an Accident and Reckless Driving. Luckily, it doesn’t appear anyone was hurt but I’m sure the defendant won’t be feeling too good when she gets that car bill or bill from her Hoboken NJ DWI lawyer to handle the case.

However, that one doesn’t even top the list – in another nj.com article that seems straight out of a bad comedy, Hoboken Police arrested two women for DWI after they both drove the same car and took turns smashing into parked cars. That’s right – after concluding an investigation the police determined the police determined that the first defendant initially attempted to drive but gave up after crashing into two parked cars. At this point her inebriated friend thought it would be a good idea to give it a shot and she took her chances driving down the road hitting another two parked cars before they were finally stopped and arrested by Hoboken’s finest.

Now let me preface this by saying the defendants in both stories are presumed innocent until proven guilty and I’ve represented plenty of clients with similar or even worse facts. And believe it or not I’ve gotten a lot of them out of trouble by having the cases dismissed in their entirety, in part or downgraded. So if you’ve been charged with a DWI in Hoboken or a neighboring town don’t count yourself out just yet because you played “bumper cars” and got into a car accident. Most of the time there are still various things that can be done to challenge the State’s case against you.
